SOUTH CAROLINA NATIONAL OFFERS CREDIT CARD REBATE

COLUMBIA, S.C., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- South Carolina National Bank is offering a $50 rebate on new South Carolina National "Prime Plus" 2.9 percent Visa and MasterCard accounts opened by May 28, 1993. The Prime Plus 2.9 percent credit card annual percentage rate, currently at 8.9 percent, is among the lowest rates offered in the country. Consumers can apply for this card and get information by calling toll-free 1-800-333-0038 or by visiting any South Carolina National branch.
"South Carolina National is pleased to offer this attractive low rate and is even more pleased to be able to offer this incentive to customers who apply for this card," said Anthony L. Furr, chief executive officer of South Carolina National. "This is an excellent opportunity for consumers to benefit from the substantial interest savings provided by the Prime Plus card and to receive a $50 rebate after the first use of the card." The card must be used for the first time by Dec. 31, 1993, in order to qualify for the rebate.
Free transfer checks are issued with each new approved account so that consumers easily can refinance balances from higher-rate credit card and revolving credit accounts to the new card, Furr added.
The Prime Plus 2.9 percent is calculated by adding 2.9 percentage points to the Prime Rate as published in The Wall Street Journal on the 15th day of each month. The card has an annual fee of $39. South Carolina National also offers no annual fee and fixed-rate credit card options.
The Prime Plus credit cards are offered by SCN Bank Card Services, Wilmington, Del., through South Carolina National Bank. Both companies are subsidiaries of Wachovia Corporation (NYSE: WB).
