SORENSON MEDICAL DEBUTS TWO AMBIT INFUSION PUMPS.

Sorenson Medical, Salt Lake City, has introduced its ambIT Continuous infusion pump and ambIT Intermittent infusion pump. The ambIT Continuous infusion pump delivers chemotherapy, anesthesia drugs, hydration and other continuous rate therapies, while the ambIT Intermittent infusion pump delivers antibiotics and other intermittent infusion therapies. They offer the same microchip technology and dependability as the ambIT PCA (Patient Controlled Analgesia ) and ambIT LPM (Local Pain Management) pumps that were available last year for pain management.

"Sorenson Medical now provides a complete product line of infusion pumps by offering the ambIT Continuous infusion pump and the ambIT Intermittent infusion pump," said Thomas Orsini, president and COO at Sorenson Medical. "Physicians or facilities are able to purchase all three types of ambIT infusion pumps for less than the price of a multitherapy pump that performs pain management, cancer treatments and infuses antibiotics. Thus, a physician is able to treat three patients instead of one at a lower cost, without losing any key operating or safety features."

The battery-operated pumps are recommended for infusion treatment by oncologists, internists, general practitioners, or any other physicians or specialists that prescribe chemotherapy or antibiotics. Portability and simple programming steps provide versatility in drug delivery profiles and t he flexibility to modify profiles during treatment to meet the unique needs of each patient. The ambIT Continuous infusion pump and the ambIT Intermittent infusion pump provide the same level of volumetric accuracy and are generally one-fourth the size and weight as other ambulatory infusion pumps. The easy-to-use ambIT pumps have multiple flow rates and infusion durations along with many other customized features.

The ambIT Continuous infusion pump and ambIT Intermittent infusion pump prioritize patient safety through occlusion alarms and free-flow protection that meet Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards and applicable International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. Additionally, they store history reports on infusion activity for easy charting, and are designed to have a Latex-free and DE HP-free fluid path.

"The ambIT Continuous infusion pump and the ambIT Intermittent infusion p ump are designed to accurately deliver a patient's drug therapy while in acute or sub-acute care or in the comfort of their own home," added Orsini. "They are meant to compliment the patient's quality of life and support the physician in prescribing the best and most affordable care."
