MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa., July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Engineering and

Manufacturing of America (SEMA) has announced that its new color television assembly (CTV) facility in Westmoreland County, Pa., has begun operations today as scheduled.
Company officials said that the facility will produce Videoscope(R) rear projection television sets. Initially, production will include Sony's newest projection TVs, the KPR-41EXR95 and the KPR-46XBR15 which feature slim line cabinet designs and advanced picture and sound capabilities. Officials added that the facility is expected to begin production of a 53-inch model later this year. A Sony official noted that the first several weeks of production will involve debugging the production system and insuring product performance and quality, with shipments reaching dealers in October.
