SOLOMON NAMED DIRECTOR, CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT FOR DISNEY'S THEME PARK PRODUCTIONS

 GLENDALE, Calif., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- John Solomon has joined The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) as director of creative development, Theme Park Productions Inc.
 Theme Park Productions is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Co. responsible for the creation of the unique film and video presentations seen in Disney theme parks worldwide.
 In this key role, Solomon will provide guidance in the development and execution of media presentations by overseeing the creation of treatments and scripts, participating in the selection of talent and ensuring that all media achieves its creative intent. He will report directly to Tom Fitzgerald, vice president, Theme Park Productions.
 Solomon comes to Disney from Witt-Thomas Productions where he acted as senior vice president responsible for the development and production of all motion pictures for the company, including "Dead Poets Society," a film released by Disney's Touchstone Pictures. He was co-producer of the Warner Bros. release "Final Analysis" and has also worked in a creative capacity with MGM, Universal Pictures and TriStar. In addition, Solomon has produced a documentary for English television entitled "The Birth of Theatre in Zimbabwe" and a cable series called "New York Poets."
 Solomon began his career with Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope Studios where he contributed to such films as "One from the Heart," "The Outsiders," "The Black Stallion," "Hammett," "The Escape Artist" and "The Black Stallion Returns." He received his bachelor's degree in motion picture production at UCLA and later attended the American Film Institute as a directing fellow.
 Theme Park Productions maintains a close working relationship with Walt Disney Imagineering, the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production and project management subsidiary of The Walt Disney Co., responsible for the creation of the Disney theme parks and their expansion.
