SOLARWINDS.NET DEBUTS NETWORK MANAGEMENT POWERHOUSE.

SolarWinds.Net, Tulsa, has just released the Engineer's Edition Toolset version 3.3, a bundled suite of network management applications that allows network engineers to monitor, manage and configure their network directly from their workstation.

With the tightening of IS budgets the SolarWinds Engineer's Edition toolset, at $995, is a great value providing bandwidth management, network discovery and full IP address management. "As network engineers attempt to accomplish more with less they must look for ways to better utilize or possibly eliminate unneeded circuits," said Dave Yonce, CEO of SolarWinds. "With over 36 applications the SolarWinds Engineer's Edition is a virtual arsenal of networking tools." The Engineer's Edition installs on Microsoft platforms (98/NT/2000/XT/MP).

The Network Performance Monitor application contained in the Engineer's Edition provides real-time fault management and bandwidth management including real-time graphs and bandwidth utilization charts of your circuits, routers and switches. The fault management feature will not only alarm when an interface fails it is capable of alerting the engineer when traffic on an interface exceeds a user defined warning level. The Network Performance Monitor is capable of retaining three years of utilization history, which can be reviewed at the click of a button.

"This toolset allows customers who previously couldn't afford a six figure network management solution to, for the first time, view performance and manage their networks in real-time," said Dave Yonce.

In addition to bandwidth management the Engineer's Edition provides a full suite of network discovery applications. The new interactive IP Network Browser utilizes SNMP to scan IP Address ranges and display details for each device. With the click of a button it is then possible to post the discovered subnets directly to the web. The Network Sonar will scan an entire class B and build a comprehensive database of the network. Additional discovery tools include a Subnet Scan and a Mac Address Discovery.

"One of the most impressive applications included in the new Engineer's Edition toolset," said Yonce, "is the MIB Browser which ships with a database of over 125,000 unique Object ID's (OID's). The MIB Browser allows a network engineer to do much more than just 'Walk a MIB Tree'. It has the capability of searching the MIB Tree using freeform text".

The MIB Browser is also fully interactive in that once a MIB table has been retrieved the engineer can remotely update values such as changing interface descriptions or network configuration parameters. Engineers now have a simple, easy to use tool, that lets them interact with the MIB's that manage their network.

A free evaluation version of the new Engineer's Edition is available online at http://www.SolarWinds.Net.
