SOFTWARE TOOLWORKS SHIPS POWERFUL MULTIMEDIA ELECTRONIC ATLAS; 47 FILM CREWS AROUND THE WORLD CONTRIBUTE FOOTAGE

 NOVATO, Calif., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Software Toolworks Inc. (NASDAQ: TWRX), the world's leading supplier of CD-ROM software, today announced the shipment of "The Software Toolworks(R) World Atlas Version 4" on CD-ROM. New material in Version 4 of the award-winning multimedia electronic atlas includes video clips filmed in 47 cities around the globe, and over 1,000 photographs covering hundreds of exotic locations. The popular "Software Toolworks World Atlas" product line has received numerous awards including the 1992 COMPUTE Choice Awards' Best Reference Software.
 To create "World Atlas Version 4," The Software Toolworks hired film crews in 47 cities including Paris, New York, London, Washington D.C., Sydney, Mexico City, Moscow, Madrid, and Beijing. Crews gathered over 270 video clips which were then integrated with photographs and maps to highlight important city attractions.
 The Software Toolworks has dedicated five years to creating interactive electronic atlas products which include maps developed by professional cartographers, and data and information from hundreds of sources including the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). "World Atlas" maps include detailed, high-resolution topographic, bathy-metric and reference maps. Statistical Maps (StatMaps) provide a broad range of data on more than 300 cities including Access to Health Care, Population and Deforestation Rate.
 The "World Atlas" contains important features such as: Currency Converter for automatic currency calculations; Object Graphs to turn data into presentation quality graphs; the Locator Globe superimposes a small globe on screen to show city locations in a global context; an electronic Slide Show allows creation of a presentation which can include photos, statistics, maps and imported data; and Wall Maps which allow the printing of giant, multi-page maps.

 To keep pace with changing political events, "World Atlas Version 4" features maps reflecting new country boundaries for: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia and Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia, Macedonia, Germany, Yemen and newly independent republics which were formerly part of The Soviet Union.
 The Software Toolworks produces two major atlas lines: "The Software Toolworks(R) U.S. Atlas" and "The Software Toolworks(R) World Atlas." "The Software Toolworks U.S. Atlas" is available for IBM(R) and compatible computers, Macintosh(R), Windows(TM), CD-ROM DOS, CD-ROM Macintosh, and MPC (CD-ROM Windows). "The Software Toolworks World Atlas" is available for IBM and compatible computers, Macintosh, Windows, CD-ROM DOS, CD-ROM Macintosh and MPC (CD-ROM Windows).
 "The Software Toolworks U.S. Atlas" is an electronic atlas of the United States. The products includes up-to-date, detailed reference and relief maps crafted by master cartographers, as well as selected regional city maps and county boundaries. Comprehensive national, state, county and city data can be viewed, compared and printed. Features include state anthems and flags, graphing capabilities, and data import and export options.
 Availability
 "The Software Toolworks World Atlas Version 4" is available for MPC (CD-ROM Windows) on June 30, 1993, for a suggested retail price of $79.95. "The Software Toolworks World Atlas Version 4" is available for CD-ROM DOS in September 1993 for a suggested retail price of $69.95. Both products will be available in over 10,000 retail outlets nationwide.

 "The Software Toolworks World Atlas Version 4" CD-ROM DOS: IBM PC or compatible with 80286, 80386 or 80486 processor, 640k RAM or higher, hard disk, VGA graphics adapter and color monitor, CD-ROM drive, mouse highly recommended, AdLib(R), Sound Blaster(R), Pro Audio Spectrum(TM) sound cards supported, DOS 3.1 or higher, MSCDEX 2.1 or higher, EMS/XMS supported.
