SOCIETY CORPORATION AND TELOS VIDEO COMMUNICATIONS WIN BRONZE ANVIL
CLEVELAND, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Society Corporation (NASDAQ: SOCI) announced today that Society Corporation and Telos Video Communications have won first place in the "Internal Newscast" category of the Public Relations Society of America's (PRSA) 1992 Bronze Anvil competition. Telos and Society were the only Ohio companies to win an award in this year's national contest. They were awarded the Bronze Anvil for NewSociety, Society's bi-monthly employee video program.
The Bronze Anvil competition honors films and videos that best meet public relations goals, as determined by PRSA. This year's winners were selected from 153 entries in nine categories. Winners were chosen by PRSA's Honors and Awards Committee.
Society and Telos began producing NewSociety in 1989. Originally produced quarterly, the show became a bi-monthly communication piece earlier this year. The half-hour programs incorporate regional and corporate news from throughout Society Corporation and features customer profiles and original music and graphics. Each edition is distributed to employees throughout the corporation.
"As Society Corporation continues to grow, video communications become and increasingly important aspect of our employee communications strategy," said Tracy Nicholson, Corporate Communications manger at Society Corporation. "NewSociety enables employees to see how Society Corporation is achieving its goals in all its regional locations."
Society employees are able to evaluate each edition of NewSociety using viewer response cards enclosed with each videocassette. Past segments receiving high marks include those profiling an individual employee's career advancement, segments on Society's Marine Lending division and Florida Trust office, and updates on the Society- Ameritrust merger. The program features three employee hosts and originates from different company locations.
"The partnership between Telos and Society has been essential to NewSociety's success," said John Tomsick, Telos producer and director. "With Telos providing the technical expertise and Society supplying the content, we are able to achieve balance between the writing and the presentation of NewSociety. The result is an attractive, quality product that entertains as it informs."
In addition to the Bronze Anvil, NewSociety won a 1992 Bronze Quill from the Cleveland Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). In 1990, NewSociety was awarded the Cleveland Communicator's Award from Women in Communications, Inc.
Telos Video Communications is a video communications company headquartered in Cleveland. This year Telos has won National First Place at the American Museums Association's Muse Awards, Best of Show at the Ohio Museums Association's Publications Awards, two Cleveland Communicator's Awards, two Bronze Telly awards and three IABC Bronze Quill awards as well as the PRSA Bronze Anvil.
As of March 31, 1992, Society Corporation has more than $24 billion in assets, $1.6 billion in equity capital, over $3.1 billion of market capitalization and more than 500 banking and trust offices in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Texas, Florida, New York, Colorado and Missouri.
