SOCIAL SAFETY NET PROGRAM.

Nicaragua is seeking US$20 million from the Inter-American Development Bank for Social Safety Net, Stage II (NI0161). The program would enhance the well-being of Nicaraguans living in extreme poverty by helping to build human capital. Phase II would cover 12,500 new households for a period of three years, and the 10,000 households currently being benefited by Phase I would continue to receive benefits for the remainder of their eligibility period. It would also provide the opportunity to consolidate the operational framework of the Network, the focalization mechanism, and the assessment of the Program's impact. Status: In preparation stage.
