SNOW IN MIDDLE OF ROAD.

Byline: By LISA O'CONNOR

IRISH rockers Snow Patrol make boring middle of the road music... or so their lead singer, Gary Lightbody, says.

Bangor-born Gary - who is sometimes dubbed "Gary Lightweight" by music critics - acknowledged Snow Patrol aren't exactly groundbreaking this week as the band got ready to embark on a UK tour.

Talking up the tour, Gary, 32, said: "I think it's going to be great."

But after he heard a few sniggers, he added: "And that's not a word that's attached to a sentence with the words Snow Patrol in it too often."

Gary has also been teased by Belfast chums who claim he has changed his accent for American audiences.

He replied: "I've never lost my Northern Irishness, but it just got smoothed out a little. There's only so many times you can repeat yourself, especially in America."
