SNET SETS SLATE FOR DIRECTORS

 NEW HAVEN, Conn., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Southern New England Telecommunications Corporation (NYSE: SNG) today set the management slate for Class II directors standing for election at its annual meeting on May 11. They are Dr. Frederick G. Adams, executive director, Citizens Committee for Effective Government, Inc.; Zoe Baird, senior vice president and general counsel, Aetna Life and Casualty Company; and James R. Greenfield, Greenfield & Murphy, attorneys at law -- all of whom are current directors; and a new nominee -- Robert L. Bennett, a principal of Bennett, Fisher, Giuliano and Gottsman, a consulting firm in New York and Boston.
 Two members are retiring from the board: Worth Loomis, visiting professor of Faith and Public Life at the Hartford Seminary, who served for 15 years, and Norman L. Greenman, president and chief executive officer of Circuit Components, Inc., who served for 16 years. With the election of the Class II directors and these retirements the Board will be reduced to 13, 12 outside directors and Daniel J. Miglio, chairman and chief executive officer.
 Bennett was formerly the president and chief executive officer of Mirror Systems, Inc. of Cambridge, Mass., and one of the founders of LEXIS and NEXIS, the computer-based research service of Mead Data Central, Inc. A graduate of Brigham Young University, he received the J.D. degree from UCLA, and did graduate work at MIT. He serves on the boards of Nationar, a privately-held correspondent bank and financial-services company, and Raytech Corporation.
