SMS SELECTS AT&T FOR FIVE-YEAR DATA NETWORK CONTRACT

 MALVERN, Pa., Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Shared Medical Systems Corp. (SMS) (NASDAQ-NMS: SMED) today announced it has selected AT&T (NYSE: T) to provide dedicated, private line data communications network services to its customers.
 As part of the $31 million, five-year agreement, the data network will be implemented in some 1,100 SMS client locations by mid-1994.
 The SMS data network will use AT&T's ACCUNET(R) family of data services to provide high-quality, end-to-end digital transmission for financial, clinical and decision support applications.
 "In our business there is no room for error," said Thomas K. Riesenberg, manager, Network Services at SMS. "Our clients expect the most accurate and reliable information services. AT&T has demonstrated its ability to meet our aggressive data services demands and those of our clients," he said.
