SMITHKLINE BEECHAM CLINICAL LABORATORIES OPENS NEW MANHATTAN LABORATORY

NEW YORK, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories (SBCL), the nation's leading laboratory network, today announced the opening of a new laboratory in Manhattan at 30 East 60th Street.
The new 8,000-square-foot laboratory, which occupies the ground floor, offers a wide range of medical tests to physicians throughout Manhattan. Tests, some of which were previously handled by the company's 108,000-square-foot facility in Syosset, L.I., are now performed on-site as part of a cost-efficient, rapid results delivery program. The laboratory offers results on most tests by 5 p.m. when samples are received by noon.
"SBCL's investment in this laboratory demonstrates our commitment to serving Manhattan," said Frank Nigro, laboratory manager. "We're also demonstrating our commitment to service excellence through our new results reporting program that offers same day service on most tests."
The laboratory now offers rapid results for the most requested medical tests, such as complete blood counts, pregnancy and urinalysis tests. There are also four Manhattan-area Patient Service Centers affiliated with the laboratory, each a convenient location for obtaining test samples from patients.
SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories is a unit of SmithKline Beecham (NYSE: SBH).
