SMITH'S BARRY WARNING.

Byline: By IAIN CAMPBELL

WALTE R SMITH has warned Scotland manager George Burley that returning skipper Barry Ferguson is not yet ready to play against Argentina for 90 minutes.

The Rangers midfielder was included in the squad to face Argentina at Hampden next Wednesday, but his club boss feels that it is too early to expect a full shift from a player who was sidelined for five months with ankle injury.

Smith said: "He's ready to start a game, he's ready to start for us, but whether he's ready to start against Argentina is another thing.

""It doesn't happen like that. If he does start for us tomorrow night I wouldn't expect him to last the full 90 minutes."
