SMC's Wireless USB Print Server Makes Printers Accessible -- from Anywhere.

IRVINE, Calif. -- New EZ Connect(TM) 802.11g print server handles print jobs across the wireless or wired LAN, across the Internet, or even sent via e-mail -- securely and efficiently

SMC(R) Networks (www.smc.com) today announced the availability of the newest in its EZ Connect(TM) g family of efficient 802.11g wireless networking products, the EZ Connect g 2.4GHz 54Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Print Server (SMCWPS-G). A great network printing solution for all consumers, home offices, classrooms or other businesses that require printer sharing, the SMCWPS-G makes a USB printer accessible across a wired or wireless LAN, across the Internet, or even via e-mail -- with the best network security of any device of its kind.

Compact and versatile, the new SMC EZ Connect g Wireless Print Server connects to any USB printer via its USB 2.0 connector, and to the LAN via either its built-in Ethernet port or its on-board 802.11g wireless capability, to provide printer placement flexibility and enhanced print performance. Its auto-fallback feature provides scalable connectivity under noisy environments to enable a larger wireless operating range, and its bi-directional communication capability keeps users informed, relaying printer messages (i.e., low ink, no paper, etc.) back to the PC if there's a problem during the print process. Configuring the SMCWPS-G is a breeze, using its easy Web-based interface and remote management capability, and it's compatible with virtually all USB printers and major networking operating systems, including Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, XP, Macintosh, Unix and Linux.

The SMC EZ Connect g Wireless Print Server's IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) Server capability lets it accept print jobs from clients, suppliers, colleagues and other authorized users from anywhere, via the Internet; and its e-mail function lets it execute print jobs sent to it by e-mail. Of course, accessibility makes security all the more important, so the SMCWPS-G supports 64/128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) and works with WPA or WPA2 secured wireless networks to prevent unauthorized users from accessing your network over a wireless connection.

The SMC EZ Connect g Wireless Print Server supports TCP/IP, SMB (Service Message Block), AppleTalk (EtherTalk), and NetBEUI, and includes utility programs that simplify installation and setup. Its built-in diagnostic button and Web-based management interface make configuration and maintenance easy.

The new EZ Connect g 2.4GHz 54Mbps Wireless Print Server (SMCWPS-G) is available now, at an MSRP of $99.99. For more information about the print server, or about SMC Networks and its full line of networking products for home and business, visit www.smc.com, or call 800-SMC-4YOU (800-762-4968).
