MT. LAUREL, N.J., July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Owen Farren, president and chief executive officer of SL Industries, Inc. (NYSE: SL) today announced the appointment of K. Bailey Nichols to the position of senior vice president - operations, SL Waber, Inc., SL's largest wholly owned subsidiary. Mr. Nichols brings to SL Waber 26 years of broad business, manufacturing and international experience, including 18 years of line positions in general management, finance and operations as well as 8 years of staff experiences encompassing strategic planning, acquisitions and market research. Mr. Nichols said, "Joining SL Waber presents me with a new and exciting professional opportunity in the rapidly growing market for power and data quality products and I look forward to the challenge of extending Waber's leadership in this industry even further."
Mr. Nichols will report to Arthur Blumenthal, the newly appointed president of SL Waber, who assumed those duties on June 3. Mr. Blumenthal said, "We are delighted to have an executive of Bailey's stature join us at SL Waber. His longtime operational experience assures us of a strong manager to oversee the day-to-day decision making at SL Waber and we will certainly take advantage of his business background in other areas as well."
Mr. Farren commented, "With two new, seasoned executives in top positions at SL Waber, we look ahead to continued momentum and success there. Art's responsibilities for strategic planning and the general management of Waber dovetails well with Bailey's strengths in operational management and, together, they will form a strong team with Waber's other senior managers. These appointments were extremely well- timed for us as Waber prepares to introduce two new uninterruptible power supply products, the UPS500 and UPS250 this summer."
