SL INDUSTRIES, INC., APPOINTS DAVID V. DAY VICE PRESIDENT - TECHNOLOGY, SL WABER, INC.

 MT. LAUREL, N.J., Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Owen Farren, president and chief executive officer of SL Industries, Inc. (NYSE: SL; PHLX), today announced the appointment of David V. Day to the position of vice president-technology for SL Waber, Inc., SL's largest wholly owned subsidiary. In this position, Mr. Day will oversee all research, new product development and quality control, and will report to Arthur Blumenthal, president of SL Waber.
 Mr. Day, 38, joins SL Waber from Acoustic Research in Canton, Mass., where he was director of engineering. His career includes 18 years of experience in the development and engineering of advanced secure communications systems and audio electronics. In design, Mr. Day's experience includes radio frequency (RF), electro-optic (EO) and infrared (IR) frequency design as well as mode-switching power supplies and high-power phased array antenna systems.
 Mr. Day's career also includes 10 years at Northrop Corporation, where he was director of advanced design responsible for the development of software-controlled systems for aircraft. He has also served as a consultant for both Lockheed Corporation and Motorola Corporation.
 Mr. Blumenthal commented: "We are delighted to have David join us at SL Waber. His strong engineering and design background provides an unusual combination of discipline and creativity which will help SL Waber extend its leadership in power and data quality products."
 Mr. Day earned an M.S. in physics from Northwestern University in 1982 and received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Syracuse University in 1979.
 Mr. Day is married to the former Kristy Moore. He and his wife will shortly be relocating to the Mt. Laurel area.
 SL Waber, Inc., is a leading manufacturer of surge suppressors, uninterruptible power supplies and other power and data quality products for both consumer and industrial use.
