SKYWEST INC. ANNOUNCES AGREEMENT TO ACQUIRE SCENIC AIRLINES TOUR BUSINESS

 ST. GEORGE, Utah, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- SkyWest Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: SKYW) has entered an agreement to acquire the tour business of Scenic Airlines Inc. of Las Vegas. Scenic Airlines provides air travel services and various tour packages in the Grand Canyon area using a fleet of deHavilland Twin Otter aircraft specifically designed for this purpose.
 SkyWest will operate the newly acquired business through its wholly owned subsidiary, Aviation Services West Inc. which also provides scenic tours in the Grand Circle area and has worked jointly with Scenic Airlines in the past. Aviation Services West has experienced strong growth rates and respectable profit margins during recent years.
 Commenting on the acquisition, Bradford R. Rich, senior vice president - finance and chief financial officer said, "We are pleased with the growth rates and financial success in the scenic tour segment of our business. As a result of developing synergies from the cooperative efforts of Aviation Services West and Scenic Airlines, the acquisition was the next logical step to expanding this segment of our business."
 Consummation of the agreement is subject to due diligence, negotiation and execution of several ancillary agreements related to facilities and equipment used in the operation of the business and obtaining the consents of regulatory authorities and other third parties.
 SkyWest Inc. is the holding company for SkyWest Airlines Inc., Aviation Services West Inc., and National Parks Transportation Inc. SkyWest Airlines Inc. operates as a Delta Connection carrier, offering scheduled air service to 42 cities in eight western states, including Delta hubs in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. The company's common stock trades on the NASDAQ stock market under the symbol SKYW.
