SKYWEST AIRLINES CONTINUES STRONG TRAFFIC GROWTH IN MAY
ST. GEORGE, Utah, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Strong growth at SkyWest

Airlines (NASDAQ: SKYW) continued during the month of May, resulting in its 10th consecutive month of growth and its ninth consecutive month of revenue passenger mile (RPM) growth exceeding available seat mile (ASM) growth, the airline reported today.
RPMs grew 16 percent at 22.7 million, while ASMs grew only 11.9 percent to 54.1 million. Passenger boardings totalled 120,177, a 14.8 percent increase over May 1992. Load factor increased 1.5 percentage points over the prior year to 42 percent for the month.
Management said it is pleased with the performance, as May is traditionally a shoulder month which results in soft traffic. "Prevailing pricing and capacity strategies are producing positive results," according to SkyWest Senior Vice President-Marketing Ron Reber. "Optimism is slowly replacing our initial apprehension regarding value pricing."
SkyWest Airlines operates as a Delta Connection under a marketing agreement with Delta Airlines. The regional airline serves 42 cities in the western United States. Operating 50 aircraft, the airline completes more than 510 flights daily.
