SKYWEST AIRLINES ATTEMPTS SOLUTIONS TO CANCELLED LAX FLIGHTS
ST. GEORGE, Utah, May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Connection operated by SkyWest Airlines (NASDAQ: RMHI) is attempting workable solutions to the present Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) closure. Passengers flying Delta connection from Southern California cities are being re-routed to make their connections or reach their destinations via other airports.
"When LAX is open for windows of flight, we are flying in and out of the area, but during times of closure, we are attempting to re-route our aircraft to meet our passengers needs," according to Senior Vice President Marketing and Customer Service Ron Reber. "We are flying extra sections to airports in Orange County, Burbank, Ontario, San Diego, Palm Springs and Las Vegas." Reber says those cities are most amenable to connections to Delta Air Lines' national and international points. Delta Air Lines and other carriers have dropped all restrictions today.
SkyWest advises passengers to delay flights where possible, but to go directly to a Delta Connection/SkyWest Airlines ticket counter where travel is absolutely necessary. "This is the best way to learn your alternatives," say Reber. "While reservationists on the telephone can tell you whether LAX is open, they aren't equipped to determine special section availability as yet."
Reber says the airline is pleased to be able to find a way to help passengers in Southern California. "It requires painstaking coordination between customer service, flight operations, dispatch and most levels of our operations, but if it helps even one passenger it's worth the effort. But we must ask passengers' patience and understanding for the plan to work."
At over 100 daily departures, SkyWest Delta Connection operates more flights in and out of LAX than any other airline, and offers service at points throughout Southern and Central California.
