SKYTEL CORP. TO SPONSOR NATIONAL INTERCOLLEGIATE CLAY COURT CHAMPIONSHIPS

 WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- SkyTel Corp., the leading provider of nationwide wireless messaging services, announced that it will be the title sponsor for the 1993 SkyTel National Intercollegiate Clay Court Championships to be hosted by the University of Mississippi, in Jackson, Miss., Sept. 30 - Oct. 3.
 More than 500 of the nation's top collegiate men and women tennis players are expected to compete in the event, which is the first tournament in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Collegiate Grand Slam.
 "Intercollegiate athletics are an important part of a student's total academic experience and we're very pleased to help make this tournament possible for the competitors, the University of Mississippi and Jackson," said David W. Garrison, president of SkyTel Corp. "We wish all these athletes the best of luck in this important first leg of the collegiate Grand Slam."

 The tournament, to be held at the River Hills Club in Jackson, Miss., is open to representatives from NCAA, NAIA and junior college Intercollegiate Tennis Association membership teams. It will consist of three segments: pre-qualifying, qualifying and the main draw, which will begin on Sept. 30. The finals will be played on Sunday, Oct. 3.
