SKY RADIO EQUIPS 100TH COMMERCIAL AIRLINER WITH LIVE, IN-FLIGHT AUDIO ENTERTAINMENT SERVICE

WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The 100th commercial airliner equipped with Sky Radio's live, in-flight audio entertainment service took flight this morning.
"Our hundredth installation represents a major milestone for Sky Radio. We now offer more airline passengers a greater opportunity to access our programming," said William O. Hider, USA TODAY Sky Radio president.
Since its first aircraft was equipped in September 1992, Sky Radio has logged more than 21,000 studio hours on-air. USA TODAY Sky Radio is the first live, satellite-delivered, in-flight, audio information service, featuring around-the-clock news, money, sports and weather reports.
"Our satellite technology and dynamic programming are a first-of- a-kind in commercial aviation," Hider said.
The benchmark 100th installation comes on the heels of Sky Radio's trade advertising campaign and live broadcast of President Clinton's State of the Union address last week.
Sky Radio is currently available on a majority of United 757 and select 737 flights, as well as Delta 757 flights, and will be installed on United and Delta's entire domestic audio-equipped fleets.
