JAMIE HAMILL is tipping former Kilmarnock team-mate Gavin Skelton to become a top manager at Queens.

The defender, 30, fired the Championship side into the last 16 of the Betfred Cup with the winner against Stenny.

And Hamill is predicting big things for no-nonsense Queens gaffer Skelton - whom he played with for two years at Killie - after reuniting with his old pal following his Rugby Park exit in the spring.

Hamill said: "Gavin's brilliant to work with. What you see is what you get with him.

"He was a hard-working player and I enjoyed playing alongside him.

"He is a straight-talker and you have to be. Hopefully the fans will see more of the same.

"Our main focus is on the league but you want to go on a good run in the cups."

Hamill settled a scrappy tie with his second-half strike that caught out Stenny keeper Colin McCabe at his near post.

But Warriors boss Brown Ferguson insisted: "I feel we've started to knit together in all areas of the team."
