SISTERS OF CHARITY SIGNS MASTER AGREEMENT WITH HBO & COMPANY
ATLANTA, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- HBO & Company (NASDAQ: HBOC), a full-service provider of healthcare information systems and services, signed a corporate master agreement worth more than $20 million with the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of Houston.
The agreement, dated June 30, 1992, calls for installation of HBO products at multiple locations within the Sisters of Charity system.
HBO is currently vendor of choice in eight of the 11 Sisters of Charity hospitals. The hospitals will install various combinations of HBO's STAR product network that include: CLINSTAR(R)-Patient Care, CLINSTAR-Pharmacy, CLINSTAR-Radiology, CLINSTAR-Laboratory, STAR Financials(sm), TRENDSTAR(R) decision support, QUANTUM(sm) executive information system and a Local Area Network (LAN) to maximize the hospitals' information system investment.
Each hospital will contract separately with HBO, under the terms of the master agreement, for system software, with individual contract signings projected within the next 60 days. Hardware and software is scheduled to be installed at the hospitals by the end of 1992.
Sisters of Charity Corporate Director of IS Jerry Wade said: "Two years ago our organization made the decision to decentralize from a shared system. The hospitals' extensive planning and selection process resulted in HBO being chosen as a key partner. HBO's functionality and commitment to open systems architecture offers our hospitals the flexibility to capitalize on technology today and for the future."
The Sisters of Charity Health Care System is a Houston-based non- profit multi-hospital system recognized as a leading healthcare provider. The system owns and operates 11 acute care hospitals and four long-term care centers in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, California, Utah and Ireland.
HBO & Company delivers a wide range of patient care, clinical and financial products, as well as networking technologies, facilities management and other services to healthcare organizations in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada.
