SILICON GRAPHICS SUPPORTS SMALL CANDY COMPANY THROUGH PURCHASE OF CHOCOLATE DINOSAURS; COMPANY DONATES CONFECTIONS TO LOCAL FOOD BANK

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE: SGI) today announced that it will help a small candy company by purchasing 12,000 chocolate dinosaurs the candy company created through a mutual misunderstanding. Silicon Graphics is donating a portion of the chocolate confections to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara & San Mateo Counties, a local non-profit organization based in San Jose and San Mateo, Calif.
The hand-made chocolates were created by Sweet Favors, a five-person company in Danville, Calif., after it learned of Silicon Graphics' involvement with the blockbuster movie, "Jurassic Park." The small company thought it had received an order for the chocolates after discussions with Silicon Graphics in April.
"Silicon Graphics values the type of entrepreneurial spirit Sweet Favors embodies and works to support small businesses in the community," said Harry Pforzheimer, director of corporate communications for Silicon Graphics. "While we believe Sweet Favors created the dinosaurs in error, we want to assist them in this situation. Ultimately this is a win for everyone -- Sweet Favors, Silicon Graphics and the Second Harvest Food Bank."
Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara & San Mateo Counties provides food to 350 non-profit agencies in two counties, serving approximately 120,000 people each month.
