 SILICON GRAPHICS OPENS AUSTRIAN SUBSIDIARY
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Graphics

Inc. (NYSE: SGI) today announced the opening of a subsidiary in Austria. The new subsidiary, located in Vienna, significantly strengthens Silicon Graphics' presence in Austria and in the emerging three dimensional computing markets in Eastern Europe, including Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland and Romania.
The dramatic political and economic changes of the last year together with the more lenient Cocom and export licensing regulations, have made it possible to deliver high-performance graphics workstations to these Eastern European countries for the first time. By establishing an office in Vienna, Silicon Graphics is building upon the historical relationships between Austria and Eastern Europe, making its leading technology available for non-sensitive applications, such as CAD/CAM, animation and chemistry.
"The opening of this subsidiary demonstrates the important role the Eastern European market will play in the future of our company," said Bob Bishop, president of the International Division of Silicon Graphics. "By having a local office in Austria, we can access a new pool of talent and at the same time ensure that customers and resellers in these countries receive the service and support they need."
Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the International Division of Silicon Graphics accounts for approximately half of the company's annual revenues. The addition of this new office brings the total number of Silicon graphics incorporated subsidiaries to 23. Additionally, Silicon Graphics offers its IRIS 4D(TM) workstations and servers through 14 international distributors.
Silicon Graphics Inc. is the leading manufacturer of visual computer systems. The company delivers three-dimensional graphics, color and real-time technologies to the technical, scientific and creative computing marketplace. Silicon Graphics Inc. has offices worldwide and headquarters in Mountain View.
