SILICON GRAPHICS LAUNCHES IRIS PARTNERS PROGRAM

SILICON GRAPHICS LAUNCHES IRIS PARTNERS PROGRAM
 Services Now Include Benefits for
 More Developers, Multinational Companies
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE: SGI) announced today that it has expanded its program for value-added resellers (VARs) and independent software vendors (ISVs), renamed the IRIS(R) Partners Program. The new program encompasses the company's previously established third-party support operations and is designed to assist the marketing efforts of Silicon Graphics' software and hardware business partners worldwide.
Formerly called the Geometry Program, the new IRIS Partners Program reflects a more aggressive stance for Silicon Graphics in its strategy to attract the computing industry's best-known and most highly regarded developers, resellers and peripheral manufacturers.
The IRIS Partners Program enables Silicon Graphics' hundreds of VAR and ISV partners to streamline software porting and hardware development. A major improvement to the program is a new, international focus that includes a simple, single-contract arrangement for multinational resellers and a multinational discount schedule. Other enhancements include a new marketing funds program and an increase in the number of available demonstration and developer systems. Under the previous program, vendors had to sign a separate contract for every country in which they planned to resell Silicon Graphics products. But under the IRIS Partners Program, resellers can now sign one contract that grants them the ability to resell products worldwide.
Another international feature is a new multinational discount schedule that reflects a reseller's overall international sales. Under the Geometry Partners discount schedule, reseller discounts varied from country to country to reflect the volume of business generated locally.
The IRIS Partners plan also offers benefits for domestic partners. Under the new plan, Silicon Graphics has increased the number of demonstration, development and training units that a VAR or ISV may purchase for internal use. The new program also includes additional marketing funds for software-only resellers and VARs that generate hardware sales. IRIS Partners also will have access to more Silicon Graphics systems for demonstration, development and training.
Silicon Graphics Inc. is the leading manufacturer of visual computer systems. The company delivers three-dimensional graphics, color, audio, video and real-time motion technologies to the technical, scientific and creative computing marketplace. Silicon Graphics Inc. has offices worldwide and headquarters in Mountain View.
