SILICON GRAPHICS ANNOUNCES ADOBE SYSTEMS' FIRST UNIX PORT
 OF PHOTOSHOP
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE: SGI) and Adobe Systems Inc. today announced a joint development project to support the Adobe Photoshop(TM) image processing program on Silicon Graphics' IRIS Indigo(TM) RISC PC. When it ships in 1993, Adobe Photoshop for Silicon Graphics will be the first UNIX(R) implementation of the popular imaging package. Adobe and Silicon Graphics will jointly market the Adobe Photoshop software.
"Adobe is proud to further extend its development relationship with Silicon Graphics," said Dave Pratt, senior vice president and general manager of Adobe's Application Products Division. "The massive throughput and graphics processing capabilities of Silicon Graphics systems mean that even the most demanding users of Adobe Photoshop will be pleased with its speed and efficiency."
"Adobe Photoshop ranks among the most strategic applications for Silicon Graphics to support in its quest to redefine the capabilities of desktop computers for creative professionals," said Stephen G. Ursenbach, vice president of applications and markets development. "With Adobe, Silicon Graphics is reshaping the world's ideas of how publishing professionals work today -- and how computer users everywhere will work tomorrow."
Binary compatible with Silicon Graphics' entire IRIS 4D(TM) product family, the IRIS Indigo RISC PC is the only computer to deliver 3d graphics, DAT-quality audio and video for less than $10,000. With the IRIS Indigo system, professional users can take advantage of powerful technology previously available only in high-end computing systems. The IRIS Indigo family includes eight models that range from the IRIS Indigo entry system, which offers virtual 24-bit color, to IRIS Indigo Elan(TM), which brings record-setting graphics performance to the desktop.
