 Dataquest Survey of Workstation Users Ranks
 Silicon Graphics Before All Other Manufacturers
 MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third consecutive quarter, Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE: SGI) has scored highest in an independent, nationwide survey of workstation users asked to rank the products, support and service of all manufacturers. The company's sustained No. 1 standing means that Silicon Graphics has outranked other workstation makers in all surveys of workstation customers conducted by Dataquest Inc. The latest results also make Silicon Graphics the industry's highest scorer for customer satisfaction for the past nine months, according to Dataquest.
 "We at Silicon Graphics recognize the importance of staying close to our customers," said Edward R. McCracken, president and chief executive officer. "The facts speak for themselves. Workstation users deserve the industry's finest products and most comprehensive support, and the Dataquest survey is proof that Silicon Graphics customer are getting them."
 Along with topping the industry in overall customer satisfaction, Silicon Graphics ranked first among users recently surveyed in six of eight key indictor areas: quality, connectivity, product delivery, performance and upgrade potential, commitment and service to the customer, and value for the price of the workstation. In a cumulative look at the survey results for the entire nine-month history of the quarterly studies, Dataquest reported that Silicon Graphics scored highest in satisfaction for two of eight key indicators: vendor's commitment and service to the customer, and performance and upgrade potential.
 Silicon Graphics' multi-faceted customer support program, included in standard warranty coverage, features toll-free telephone support, parts exchange and a subscription to Pipeline, the company's own technical newsletter. Also provided on a contract basis are additional parts support options, on-site support, contract administration and customer education programs.
 Dataquest surveyed 675 workstation users for the recent quarterly report, the third such study it has conducted. The report is titled, Score Report: Customer Satisfaction -- Workstations, Fourth Quarter 1991."
