SIGRID OLSEN HOME LINE DEBUTS.
NEW YORK-Sigrid Olsen's style for home is tailored, elegant and casual.
The bedding, bath and table linen collections, which the artist and fashion designer, along with supplier partner W-C Designs, introduced last week at the winter market, showed a balance of warm and cool colors and print and woven.
In bedding, the designer's products used a variety of fabrications, such as fiber-reactive prints and yarn-dyed wovens. Attention to sewing details was evident in the line. Elements of the bedding design were carried through the bath collection, which included a ring-spun cotton bath towel, rugs and accessories, and a table linen group.
"My goal is to echo what I do in my clothing line and provide beautiful, well-made items that are luxurious yet effortless to put together," said Olsen, who got her inspiration from one sophisticated table linen in her jacket line.
The Sigrid Olsen Home Collection is the new venture of Liz Claiborne Inc., owner of the brand, which started a home collection for Liz Claiborne in 2002. "This line is for select distribution," Barbara Friedman, president of Liz Claiborne Licensing, said of the Sigrid Olsen line. "This is a specialized brand and much more exclusive."
Friedman said they are following the matrix set up in Sigrid Olsen apparel. The designer's apparel line is sold in Federated, May, Dillard's and Marshall Field's stores. Price points are higher for the Sigrid Olsen line compared with Liz Claiborne, which has a wider distribution and is offered to department and specialty store retailers.
Comforters and duvets were layered to a 330-thread-count cotton, solid-color sheets. A flat queen sheet will retail for $86, while a comforter queen size will retail for $357.
