SIGNAL TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION FILES

 SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Signal Technology Corporation announced that it has filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for the initial public offering of 1.7 million shares of its common stock and has applied to be listed on the NASDAQ National Market System under the trading symbol STCX.
 The company is offering 1,300,000 shares and certain shareholders are offering 400,000 shares. Proceeds to the company from the offering will be used for acquisitions of businesses and product lines, which complement the company's current businesses, and for reduction of revolving bank debt.
 Signal Technology designs, develops, manufactures and markets frequency generation, power management and frequency management and control components and subsystems for the defense industry and commercial markets. The company's major customers are prime defense contractors, which incorporate the company's products into complex systems sold to the agencies of the U.S. government and certain foreign countries.
 Oppenheimer & Co., Inc. is the managing underwriter for the offering. It is anticipated that the shares will be offered in late May or early June 1993.
 The registration statement relating to these securities has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission but has not yet become effective. These securities may not be sold nor may offers to buy be accepted prior to the time the registration statement becomes effective.
