             SIERRA RESEARCH AND FOKKER AIRCRAFT FORM TEAM
                    TO PROVIDE F-5 UPGRADE SERVICES
    BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Sierra Research of Buffalo, N.Y., and Fokker Aircraft services of Woensdrecht, Holland, have teamed to offer total avionics and structural upgrade of F-5 TIGER aircraft, which are operated by many air forces throughout the world.
    Under a 1991 contract, Sierra is currently providing its TIGER-PAWS digital avionics upgrade for 15 Royal Norwegian Air Force F-5 aircraft.
    This upgrade is designed to improve reliability and ease of maintenance of the aircraft's avionics and reduce pilot workload while enhancing flight safety.
    Under a similar contract, Sierra designed and installed a digital avionics upgrade for NASA's T-38 aircraft which is used to train space shuttle astronauts.
    Fokker Aircraft services, having achieved a depth of F-5 know-how and experience spanning four decades, operates one of the world's few overhaul and repair centers for F-5's.
    Fokker was involved in the co-production of 190 F-5's for the Royal Netherlands Air Force in the late sixties and early seventies. Subsequently, more than 300 F-5's went through the Fokker shops for various maintenance, repair and modification tasks.
    Customers include the air forces of the Netherlands, Norway, Turkey, South Korea, Brazil and Venezuela.
    The Fokker/Sierra team will offer the user a choice of engineering and production options:
    -- centralized avionics and structural installation at Fokker's Woensdrecht or Sierra's Buffalo facilities;
    -- in-country installation services with the assistance of local aerospace firms.
    Blending the capabilities of Fokker Aircraft Services and Sierra Research for a total F-5 structural and avionics update will enhance the TIGER's combat capability and ensure reliable and effective service life well beyond the year 2000.
