 SIEMENS AND NEWBRIDGE EXPAND COOPERATION IN DATA NETWORKS SECTOR
 KANATA, Ontario, March 31 /PRNewswire/ - Newbridge Networks Corporation (NASDAQ: NNCXF) and Siemens AG Public Communication Networks Group of Munich, Germany have signed a development cooperation agreement, amplifying their alliance in the field of data networks.
 The agreement covers joint development based on the MainStreet(R) product family, which is marketed by Siemens under the brand name "SIMUX". This is a line of intelligent multiplexer/cross-connect products offering an efficient network management system.
 The agreement, which also includes the joint development of new future-oriented products, will enhance the position of both companies in the rapidly expanding and highly innovative data network market. At the same time, it gives Newbridge entry into the world market through Siemens.
 In October 1991, Siemens and Newbridge concluded a worldwide OEM and technical agreement covering the entire range of Newbridge data network products.
 Siemens holds a leading position in the world market for data networks, which is currently growing at a rate of about 25 percent annually.
 The public Communications Network Group of Siemens designs, manufactures, markets, and services a broad range of telecommunications products and systems. Over 44,000 people are employed in 48 countries.
 Siemens, whose history in the Canadian telecommunications industry dates back to the late 1800's, currently has 15 manufacturing plants and 40 sales and service offices serving the country. The company employs over 4,000 people and achieved sales in excess of $600 million in 1991 in Canada.
 Newbridge Networks is an international company which designs, manufactures, markets and services high performance, standards-based networking products for global LAN and WAN applications, all manageable by a single, graphically rich network management system. Facilities are located in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia.
 Newbridge Networks Corporation is a public company whose common shares are quoted for trading on the NASDAQ National Market System in the United States and listed for trading on The Toronto Stock Exchange (NNC) in Canada.
