SIEBE PLC AND MITSUBISHI MATERIALS TO FORM SURGE PROTECTION PARTNERSHIP

 WINDSOR, England, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Mitsubishi Materials Corporation and Teccor Electronics, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siebe plc. jointly announced today that they have reached agreement to form a partnership which will bring together their respective strengths in technology, manufacturing, product application and distribution for the surge protection business. Under the terms of the agreement, Mitsubishi Materials Corporation will take a minority equity investment in Teccor and will also be given exclusive distribution rights in Asia for certain existing and new Teccor solid-state surge protection products. These products, currently marketed under the trademark SID TOR, are targeted to meet the rapidly growing demand for surge protection in the telecommunications and computer peripherals markets.
 Teccor Electronics, Inc. of Dallas, Texas is one of the world's leading suppliers of solid-state surge protectors and other electronic thyristor products.
 Mr. Masaya Fujimurs, president of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, and Dr. Robert L. Smialek, president and chief operating officer of Siebe Temperature & Appliance Controls, issued the following joint statement:
