SHOT IN MUM'S ARMS; Little Danielle, 5, dies as Palestinian gunmen kill 4.
A GIRL of five was shot dead yesterday and her two little brothers injured by a Palestinian gunman who burst into their home as they sat with their mother on her bed and sprayed them with bullets.
A second attacker shot his way into another home, killing Katya Greenberg in her bed and wounding her husband and 14-year-old son. The assailants, both disguised as Israeli soldiers, fired assault rifles for at least half an hour, witnesses said, before slipping away.
Four residents of the Jewish settlement of Adora were killed and seven wounded in the attack - one of the worst on Israelis since the offensive against Palestinian militants began at the end of last month.
The father of murdered Danielle Shefi was in the synagogue for Sabbath prayers during the attack. Policeman Yaakov Shefi rushed home when he heard the shots, but it was over when he arrived.
His wife Shira told him she had not heard the attacker enter, he said.
Mr Shefi added: "He just opened the door. My wife and the children were sitting on the bed and he just sprayed them with bullets. She remembers pushing the children under the bed. She said, 'Be quiet and don't cry, so that they don't come back.'
"She saw our daughter take her last breath. Anyone capable of looking a four-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl in the face and then shooting them is not human."
Shira and her two sons - the younger just one - were only slightly hurt.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility. However, Adora is near the West Bank town of Hebron, where last week Israel killed a local militia leader in a targeted helicopter missile attack, prompting threats of revenge.
During yesterday's attack, frightened residents huddled in their homes, waiting for help. Anat Harari, 41, said she saw a gunman standing just outside her kitchen window, firing at her home. She was wounded in the shoulder and fled into her bathroom.
Recalling her terror, Anat said from her hospital bed: "I am on the floor, bleeding in a pool of blood, in the bathroom. I stay on the phone with my parents. I am talking to my parents without stopping. I tell them what is going on. I tell them, it's not the army, it's terrorists in disguise. And I wait for help."
Other gunmen shot dead Erik Bekers in front of parents Moshe and Ada.
Israeli army Lieutenant General Amos Ben Avraham said the attackers had entered the settlement by cutting through the perimeter wire.
