SHOROUK AIRLINES TO BEGIN SERVICE WITH BOEING 757-200s
SEATTLE, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Shorouk Airlines, the joint

venture charter carrier formed by EgyptAir and Kuwait Airways, has announced its intention to select the Boeing 757 as its next airliner, the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group confirmed today.
Shorouk will receive one passenger-configured 757-200, and three 757-200F freighter versions of the twinjet. The new airline has secured options on an additional two each of the passenger and freighter versions.
The initial four airplanes are valued at approximately $240 million including training, spare parts and maintenance.
Seddik Belyamani, vice president of international sales, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, said, "We're delighted that Shorouk chose the 757 family for its new airline service.
"The selection by Shorouk of both the passenger version and the freighter version of the 757 will allow the airline to realize significant cost savings in flight crew training and operations as well as spares, thanks to the complete commonality between the two versions."
The 757 passenger aircraft will be used to provide charter services between Europe and the Middle East. The 757 Freighters will be used to satisfy the increasing demand for fast and efficient freight services in the Middle East.
To date, a total of 789 Boeing 757 orders and commitments have been placed by 40 customers.
