SHOPKO TO BUILD STORE IN HASTINGS, NEB.
GREEN BAY, Wis., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- ShopKo Stores, Inc., (NYSE: SKO) has purchased a site in Hastings, Neb. and has announced intent to build the company's 11th Nebraska store. ShopKo plans to build a 74,000 square foot discount store on the 27-acre site located at the southwest corner of Highway 34 and 33rd Street. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year with the store opening planned for mid-1994. "ShopKo is excited to be locating in Hastings," said Gene Bankers, ShopKo vice president. "Midwest consumers have been very receptive to our quality merchandise, low prices and excellent customer service policies. We are committed to Nebraska and future development here." ShopKo is building eight stores in 1993 including stores in Dixon, Ill.; Loveland and Longmont, Colo.; Duluth, Minn.; Lacey, Wash. and Sheboygan, Wis.; and relocated stores in Marshall, Minn. and Mitchell, S.D. Illinois and Colorado will become the 14th and 15th states in the ShopKo chain.
