SHOPKO STORES REPORTS DECEMBER SALES UP 6.5 PERCENT

 GREEN BAY, Wis., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- ShopKo Stores, Inc. (NYSE: SKO) reported sales for the five weeks ended Jan. 2, 1993, increased 6.5 percent to $280.2 million from $263.0 million during the same period last year. Comparable store sales increased 4.4 percent.
 For the cumulative 48 weeks ended Jan. 2, 1993, total sales increased 3.6 percent to $1,585.4 million from $1,529.7 million for the same period last year. Comparable store sales for the cumulative 48 weeks ended Jan. 2, 1993, increased 1.3 percent over the same period last year.
 ShopKo Stores, Inc. is a leading regional discount store chain operating 111 stores in 13 states.
