SHOPKO SELECTS BOZELL AS BROADCAST ADVERTISING AGENCY

 GREEN BAY, Wis., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- ShopKo Stores, Inc. (NYSE: SKO) announced today that it has awarded its $10 million broadcast advertising account to Bozell, Chicago. The selection of Bozell ends a four-month agency search and review process, and was made following formal presentations by four finalist agencies including Bozell; W.B. Doner, Detroit; CME-KHBB, Minneapolis; and the incumbent McDonald Davis & Associates, Milwaukee.
 "Bozell's creative approach to ShopKo's review assignment is a strategy that will differentiate us as a retailer," said Eugene E. Bankers, vice president of communication and investor relations. "We're confident this partnership will result in excellent consumer communications for ShopKo."
 ShopKo Stores, Inc. is a leading regional discount department store chain with 111 stores in 13 states, concentrated in the Upper Midwest, Mountain and Pacific Northwest states. The company recorded sales of $1.7 billion last year (fiscal year ended Feb. 27, 1993) and recently announced plans to build 37 new stores in 1994-1996. ShopKo will open eight new stores in 1993. Illinois and Colorado will become the 14th and 15th states in the ShopKo chain. ShopKo stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange, Philadelphia, Midwest and Pacific exchanges under the symbol "SKO."
