 SHOPKO'S EXPANSION PLANS INCLUDE COLORADO
 GREEN BAY, Wisc., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- ShopKo Stores, Inc.


(NYSE: SKO) today announced plans to build six stores and remodel 15 existing stores next year. Two of the new stores will be built in Colorado, making it the 14th state in the ShopKo chain.
 At the annual meeting of shareholders held today in Green Bay, Wisc., president and chief executive officer Dale P. Kramer announced the following new store locations:
 -- Longmont, Colo. - SW corner of Hover Road and Nelson Road,
 across from Twin Peaks Mall.
 -- Loveland, Colo. - Eisenhower Road between Madison St. and
 Lincoln St., next to Sam's Wholesale Club.
 -- Lacey, Wash. - NE corner of Interstate 5 and Martin Way, a
 combined development with Home Base and Tops Foods.
 -- Sheboygan, Wisc. - SW corner of Taylor St. and Erie St.,
 across from Memorial Mall.
 -- Duluth, Minn. - NE corner of Central Entrance Rd. and Trinity
 Rd., a combined development with Cub Foods and Toys R Us,
 across from Miller Hill Mall.
 -- Mitchell, S.D. -- East Main St. between Green Dr. and 23rd St.,
 relocated store from 1801 North Main St., a combined
 development with Randall Foods.
 All sites are under ShopKo control and permit and approval processes are underway in each city. Store sizes will range from 75,000 square feet to 115,000 square feet.
 All of the new and remodeled stores will feature ShopKo's "Vision 2000" concept, a new merchandising format with wider aisles, new fixturing and featuring new merchandising concepts. "The early response to our Vision 2000 stores in Green Bay, Wisc. and Salem, Ore. has been positive," said Kramer. "We have decided to accelerate our remodeling plans to take better advantage of the benefits of the new format."
