SHOE CARNIVAL ELECTS BOARD MEMBER

 EVANSVILLE, Ind., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Shoe Carnival, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCVL) announced today the appointment of Gerald W. Schoor to the company's board of directors. He was also appointed as a member of the Audit Committee, the Compensation Committee and the Stock Option Committee of the company. Schoor's term on the board is scheduled to expire at the 1996 annual meeting of stockholders of the company.
 Schoor is the president of Corporate Finance Associates, St. Louis, and executive vice president of National Industrial Services, Inc. From 1978 through 1991 Schoor held various positions with Landmark Bancshares Corporation, St. Louis, the most recent of which was vice chairman of the holding company and chairman of Landmark St. Louis Bank. His business career has been concentrated in the banking industry since 1959. Schoor graduated with a bachelor of science economics degree from St. Louis University in 1956. He presently serves on the board of directors for a number of companies including Heartland Savings Bank and Magna Bank (as an advisory director).
