SHISEIDO ANNOUNCES CHANGES IN CHINA BUSINESS.
The plans entail establishing a management function of the prestige brands business in the China region and the CMO function of cosmetics brands and personal care brands. Furthermore, the strategic alliance with emerging e-commerce platform companies in the China region will be strengthened under direct control of the CEO of the China region.
At the same time, Shiseido will proactively support the business strategy and reinforce the corporate functional structure aiming to improve its organizational capability to ensure sustainable business growth.
The new management team of the China Region will be: Kentaro Fujiwara, president and CEO of China region, Shiseido China; Morgan Tan, senior vice president, prestige brands division of China region, president of Shiseido Hong Kong; Julie Chiang, chief marketing officer, cosmetics brands and personal care brands of China region; Anson Yu, CFO of China region and Shiseido Hong Kong; Julia Li, chief people officer of China region; and Zaheer Nooruddin, senior vice president, DX (digital experience) division of China region.
Chiang and Li are new hires at the company, according to Shiseido.
Sabinsa Signs MOU with Japan External Trade Organization
* JAPAN: Sabinsa Japan Corporation, a division of the Sami-Sabinsa Group, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to support Sabinsa's expansion in Japan.
The MOU was signed during the 13th India-Japan Annual Summit, attended by the Honorable Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the Honorable Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, on Oct. 29, 2018 in Tokyo.
"As we continue our global expansion, we deeply appreciate the support of the Government of India and the trade development programs of the countries in which we do business, such as JETRO," said Sabinsa founder Dr. Muhammed Majeed. "Although we have had an office in Japan for some time, the support of the Government of Japan as we continue our investment in that country will allow us to more quickly make our products to enhance human health available on a wider scale to the people of Japan."
SeneGence Opens Office in Mexico
* MEXICO: SeneGence International has officially opened its Mexican office in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon. The direct seller hosted a two-day event in November 2018, which included a grand opening ceremony with ribbon cutting followed by a welcome reception and traditional entertainment.

Vantage Acquires Leuna-Tenside
* GERMANY: Vantage Specialty Chemicals Holdings has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Leuna-Tenside GmbH (LTG), a German manufacturer of specialty surfactants sold throughout Europe and globally. Located in Leuna, Germany, the company is focused on small volume, niche products supported by flexible manufacturing capabilities. LTG's product portfolio includes anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants, and emulsifiers that are based on naturally derived ingredients and are used in a diversified range of end markets including personal care, soaps and detergents, industrial cleaning, lubricants, and paints and coatings.
"The acquisition of LTG is a transformational transaction for Vantage that provides us with a strategic manufacturing footprint in Europe," commented Tiffany Kyllmann, chief strategy officer of Vantage. "LTG's production facility is attractively located in Germany with products and chemistries that are similar to those of Vantage. We truly believe this efficient production facility and impressive technology, in combination with the European footprint, will allow us to better serve our global customer base."
The deal marked the third add-on acquisition that Vantage has completed since HIG acquired the firm in October 2017.
At press time, the transaction was expected to close by the end of 2018.
Cosmoprof Signs Agreement with Beauty Fair
* BRAZIL: An agreement has been reached between BolognaFiere Cosmoprof, organizer of the events of the Cosmoprof platform, and Beauty Fair - Feira Internacional De Beleza Profissional, an event in Sao Paulo, Brazil for professionals and distributors of the local cosmetic industry.

The collaboration between the two events will bring to Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna 2019 (scheduled to commence on March 14), a country pavilion from Brazil, facilitating the entry of buyers, distributors and retailers of the South American area. At Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna, selected key players from Brazil and neighboring countries will be able to get in touch with the main players in the global cosmetics industry to evaluate new products and services that can be adapted to the local market.
For the 2019 edition of Beauty Fair (scheduled for September), the collaboration with BolognaFiere Cosmoprof will facilitate the presence in the event of international companies, which already attend the main events of the international platform. Cosmoprof confirms itself as a significant partner that supports leading companies in the development of new business processes in a strategic market like Brazil: a gateway to South America, a country that is experiencing important social and economic changes.
