SHINSUNG PACKARD NAMED WIRING SOURCE FOR KIA SPORTAGE

 WARREN, Ohio, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Packard Electric's Korean joint venture, Shinsung Packard, has been named the automotive wiring source for the sport utility vehicle, Sportage, built by Korean automaker, Kia.
 The initial agreement calls for Shinsung Packard to supply wiring for a low-volume start-up this year. Annual volume could increase to 100,000 units in several years, according to Tom Sosnowchik, manager of Packard International's Asia-Pacific Region.
 Kia also awarded Packard a contract for circuit testing for the North American export version of the Sportage. Vehicle electrical testing and validation is currently taking place at Packard's Electrical Systems Testing Center (ESTC) near Warren.
 Kia, Korea's second-largest automaker, is located in Seoul, South Korea, and employs approximately 20,000 people.
