SHELLEY LONG RETURNS AS DIANE CHAMBERS IN THE FINAL EPISODE OF 'CHEERS'
HOLLYWOOD, March 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Shelley Long reprises her Emmy Award-winning role as the scholarly barmaid Diane Chambers in "Cheers'" final episode. The historic one-hour episode will be telecast on NBC, Thursday, May 20, (10-11 p.m. ET) concluding the 11th and final season of one of America' most-loved comedy series. Long, an original member of the "Cheers" cast, earned an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy for her portrayal of the pseudo-intellectual barmaid Diane Chambers in the show's premiere season. Subsequently, she secured three more Emmy Award nominations in the remaining four years with the show. Long left the series after its fifth season to pursue a career in feature films including "Outrageous Fortune" with Bette Midler and "Money Pit" with Tom Hanks. "Cheers," the multi-Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award-winning top-rated comedy series, is a Charles/Burrows/Charles Production in association with the Network Television Division of Paramount Pictures.
