SHELL PLEDGES $150,000 TO AID FLOOD VICTIMS AS EMPLOYEES AND SERVICE STATION DEALERS ASSIST IN RELIEF EFFORTS

 ST. LOUIS, July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Local representatives of Shell Oil Company presented a $100,000 contribution to the American Red Cross today to assist in flood relief efforts in the Greater St. Louis area in Missouri and the Alton-Wood River area in Illinois.
 In addition, all of Shell's service station dealers in the Greater St. Louis area have pledged to donate a penny of their profits from every gallon of gasoline they sell on July 12, 13 and 14. All of the funds collected during this three-day fundraiser starting Monday will be used to purchase relief items for the flood victims. Shell Oil Company has pledged also to match whatever amount its dealers collect. Approximately 100 Shell jobber service stations in Illinois and Missouri have agreed to collect the penny a gallon from their profits during July 13, 14 and 15.
 Shell will donate approximately $50,000 worth of relief of goods such as batteries, bottled water, canned goods and diapers to flood victims in Missouri and Illinois. Shell employee volunteers and Shell dealers and jobbers will distribute these items to flood victims at relief tents in Illinois and Missouri.
 These contributions are presented on behalf of Shell employees at its Wood River Manufacturing Complex, Products Distribution, Pipeline and Marketing offices and the Shell dealers and jobbers in Illinois and Missouri.
