SHELL HELPS YOU GET MORE MILEAGE

 CALGARY, Alberta, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Shell Canada Products Ltd. (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary: SHC) today announced the launch of the AIR MILES Reward Program in its retail gasoline network across Canada. Shell, as the exclusive oil products sponsor in Canada, joins more than 34 different companies who participate in the reward program for frequent customers.
 The AIR MILES program, managed by Loyalty Management Group, is the first program that allows Canadian consumers to earn free air travel by doing their regular shopping at participating sponsors. Because the program permits only one sponsor per category and collectors can only earn travel miles from those sponsors, the program promotes brand and company loyalty. Since the AIR MILES program launch early in 1992, more than 2 million Canadians have become AIR MILES Collectors.

 A $15 purchase of any Formula Shell gasoline at participating Shell retailers earns one AIR MILES travel mile. Each additional $10 purchase in the same transaction earns one additional travel mile. Other eligible purchases, in conjunction with a gasoline purchase, are car washes and convenience food store goods.
 Late in 1992, Shell successfully tested the program in Saskatoon and verified the technical capability of the point-of-sale equipment to quickly capture and transmit the required data.
 AIR MILES sponsors include Bank of Montreal, Canada Safeway, Sears Canada Inc., Ford Motor Company of Canada, Canadian Pacific Hotels & Resorts, Tilden Interrent, and LensCrafters as well as Food City, Price Chopper and Dutch Boy in Ontario, and many other national and regional sponsors.
