SHELL CANADA PRODUCTS OFFICIALLY OPENS PLANT
CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Shell Canada Products

Ltd. (Toronto, Montreal: SHC) today officially opened its world scale lubricants blending and packaging plant in Brockville, Ontario.
Shell executives, together with Mayor John Doran, Robert Runciman and Jim Jordan, unveiled a commemorative clock to mark the opening of the plant, located in an industrial subdivision of Brockville, on Highway 401 between Montreal and Toronto.
Osyp Mushka, vice president of Kilborn Inc., the general contractors, and Joseph Barth, chairman of the designers of the project, Mid America Engineers of Chicago, also participated in the event.
"We are extremely proud of the many Shell employees and contractors who worked extraordinarily hard to get this plant built on a fast track, on schedule and on budget," said Carmine Falcone, president of Shell Products.
The manager of the new plant, Brian Avis, praised the innovative approaches that were used on the project. "This plant has shown us that we can incorporate quality management, environmental sensitivity and teamwork to do great things," he said.
The plant employs 75 people, approximately half of whom were relocated to the area from other Shell locations. Employees work in a sociotech environment, involving self-managed teams who plan and organize their own work. The plant replaces two older plants in Toronto and Montreal. The new plant is designed to produce more than 150 million liters of lubricants per year and will serve customers in Canada and many other countries.
