SHELL CANADA LTD. ANNOUNCES CONTRACT CALGARY, Alberta, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Shell Canada Ltd.
(Toronto, Montreal: SHC) announced today that it has contracted to supply Saranac Power Partners, L.P. an exclusive supply of natural gas for a cogeneration facility to be built in upstate New York near Plattsburgh.
The 240 megawatt facility, developed by Falcon Seaboard of Houston, is expected to be online in early 1994 and will require approximately 52 million cubic feet per day of natural gas for a term of 15 years. "This sale is Shell's largest to date to a direct customer and represents an important step in our strategy to increase our sales to the cogeneration market segment," Fred Klein, Shell's director of the Natural Gas Business Centre, said. The natural gas will be transported from Shell's plants in Alberta on the NOVA and TransCanada systems to a new Canadian export point near Napierville, Quebec.
