SHELL ACQUIRES BP SERVICE STATIONS IN SOUTHEAST FLORIDA

HOUSTON, March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Shell Oil Company announced today another major step toward reinforcing its commitment to Florida by signing an agreement to purchase 26 BP Exploration & Oil Inc. service stations in southeast Florida.
"We believe the BP acquisition reinforces Shell's commitment to its dealers and customers in Florida. Florida is a very significant market to Shell and the addition of these service stations will enable us to serve our existing and new customers better," said Bill Schutzenhofer, vice president of marketing for Shell.
The closing for the BP agreement is scheduled for June 1993 subject to certain terms and conditions. Specific terms were not disclosed. Shell will begin converting the BP service stations to its trademark design this summer. This acquisition will enable Shell to market gasoline through approximately 700 Shell-branded jobber and dealer service stations in Florida. Shell is one of the leading gasoline marketers in the United States and sells its products through approximately 8,700 service stations in 38 states and Washington, D.C.
