SHELDAHL SELECTS SITE FOR ELECTRONIC INTERCONNECT ASSEMBLY OPERATION

NORTHFIELD, Minn., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Sheldahl, Inc., (NASDAQ: SHEL) announced today that is has selected Britton, S.D., as the site for its new electronic interconnect assembly operation. The 30,000-square-foot plant, which will be built to the company's specifications by the Britton Development Corporation and leased back to Sheldahl, will employ from 75 to 85 people at its inception. Sheldahl said in an earlier announcement that these jobs would be transferred from the company's Northfield plant. The Britton plant is scheduled to begin operation in the company's fiscal 1994 first quarter.
James E. Donaghy, Sheldahl's president and chief executive officer said, "Britton is a good location for us. It's close to our existing Aberdeen facility and has an excellent labor force. The community is enthusiastic about our expansion there, and offered us a very attractive and mutually rewarding financial package. We're pleased to become a member of the Britton business community."
The new assembly facility will be located approximately 60 miles from the company's existing Aberdeen, S.D. assembly plant. The proximity will enable Sheldahl to leverage its management and financial resources, yet achieve a tightly focused operation. The Britton plant will assemble interconnects for the company's customers in the automotive electronics and datacommunications markets.
