SHELDAHL EXPECTS TO BE AHEAD OF PLAN IN SECOND QUARTER

NORTHFIELD, Minn., Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Sheldahl, Inc. (NASDAQ: SHEL) today said that it expects second quarter 1993 to be stronger than previously anticipated. The outlook for the current fiscal year remains in line with expectations.
Net income for the quarter is expected to be in the range of 5 to 6 cents per share on sales of $20.6 to $20.8 million.
John V. McManus, vice president of finance, said the current second quarter's performance is substantially above last year's and reflects a continuation of the momentum established during the first quarter. Results have been positively affected by an increase in sales volume and by vigorous cost controls, he added.
Sheldahl's core technology involves the conversion of basic materials into technical laminates that are sold as foils and tapes. The company also uses these laminates as the base for such products as antennas, electronic shielding, insulation, flexible interconnects and specialized fabrications. Sheldahl has strategically located design and technical centers in the Western, Midwestern and Eastern regions of the United States and in Great Britain.
